About Us

The Brass Tacks Orchestra was founded in 1990 as a traditional big band, led by founding member and artistic director, Mr. Paul Clauss.

Over time, the Orchestra has evolved, consisting of talented professional musicians and local music educators in the 17-piece big band that exists today!

Artistic Director

Mr. Paul Clauss

Mr. Paul Clauss is an original founding member of the Brass Orchestra since 1990. Over the course of his career as Artistic Director of the Brass Tacks, Mr. Clauss has been the visionary of the ensemble, bringing the tacks to new heights for over 30 years.

Musical Director

Mr. Todd Gagnon

Mr. Todd Gagnon has performed with the Brass Tacks for several years, and is currently the Director of Bands at Russell O. Brackman Middle School in Barnegat, NJ.

Assistant Director

Mr. Daniel McGrath

Mr. Daniel McGrath has been a member of the Brass Tacks Orchestra since 2016, and helps run the Social Media & Website pages for band! Mr. McGrath currently serves at the Director of Bands at Barnegat High School (Barnegat, NJ), and is an active trumpet player & conductor performing in a variety of musical settings throughout the state of New Jersey!
