About Us

The Brass Tacks Orchestra was founded in 1990, originating as a traditional big band led by founding member and artistic director Mr. Paul Clauss. Overtime, the Orchestra has evolved ensembles over the years, consisting of talented professional musicians, and local music educators into the 17-piece big band that exists today!

Artistic Director

Mr. Paul Clauss

Mr. Paul Clauss is an original founding member of the Brass Orchestra since 1990. Over the course of his career as Artistic Director of the Brass Tacks, Mr. Clauss has been the visionary of the ensemble, bringing the tacks to new heights for over 30 years.

Musical Director

Mr. Todd Gagnon

Todd has performed with the Brass Tacks for several years, and is currently the Director of Bands at Russell O. Brackman Middle School (Barnegat, NJ)

Assistant Director

Mr. Daniel McGrath

Mr. Daniel McGrath has been a member of the Brass Tacks Orchestra since 2016. Mr. McGrath currently serves at the Director of Bands at Barnegat High School (Barnegat, NJ), and is an active trumpet player performing in a variety of musical settings throughout the state of New Jersey!
