The Brass Tacks Orchestra is unique in the world of big bands. We are not a pick-up band. We are a rehearsing band with 19 members, some of whom have been together for nearly 20 years. The result is a sound and feeling of our performances which are instantly recognizable.
The Brass Tacks Orchestra is an authentic 17-piece "big band", which includes a full rhythm section and 13 brass and wind instruments, complimented by lead male and female vocalists, as well as male and female backing singers. Hits from Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie and Harry James make the most of the band’s 17-piece instrumentation with authentic performances of many of the artists’ original arrangements.
The band’s male and female vocalists feature the best of Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., Natalie Cole and Linda Ronstadt, to name only a few. The Brass Tacks Orchestra’s varied repertoire also includes a full range of more contemporary selections made popular by such artists as Garth Brooks, Santana, Gloria Estefan, Tina Turner, Brian Setzer and Bruce Springsteen.
The Brass Tacks is well versed in all forms of Ballroom and Society Dances such as the fox trot, cha-cha, meringue, tango and waltz. We have performed private ballroom dinner dances for highly discriminating dance studios throughout New Jersey.
Musicians comprising The Brass Tacks Orchestra possess on average more than 20 years experience. Some band members are recent graduates of top music schools; others are music teachers and still others performed the greatest hits of the Big Band era during its heyday. Band members have in common a dedication to professionalism evident in every appearance.
The Brass Tacks Orchestra presents a top-notch show that keeps its audiences dancing or toe tapping throughout its performance - and talking about it for weeks later. The Band has entertained audiences at some of New Jersey’s finest venues, such as the PNC Arts Center in Homdel, the Parsippany Hilton, The Fair Lawn Pavilion in Montclair, Sea Oaks Country Clusb, Deal Counry Club, the Mill in Spring Lake Heights and several casinos including Bally’s Park Place Casino Hotel, and the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.
